Enbridge entered the U.S. solar energy market in March 2012 with its acquisition of Silver State North, a premier photovoltaic solar project in Clark County, Nevada.
Silver State North generates 50 megawatts of power or enough clean solar energy to serve the needs of about 9,000 Nevada homes per year. Additionally, the facility displaces an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide as taking 8,000 cars off the road.
Comprised of more than 800,000 solar modules situated on 600 acres, Silver State North was constructed under a fixed-price engineering, procurement and construction agreement with First Solar. NV Energy purchases the energy output under a 25-year power purchase agreement approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.
